The Micromath book and CD
The DfES paid for the production and distribution of the ATM book Integrating ICT into the mathematics classroom and accompanying CD to 3500 maintained secondary schools in England last Autumn. The book celebrates 21 years of the Micromath journal with a collection of reprints of 30 articles. There is one page (p 9) which describes what is on the CD. My first piece of advice to any school or LEA is to make a copy of this page, and the CD, for every maths teacher! There are also trial versions of powerful software: TI InterActive!, TISmartView and TI Connect, Autograph, the Geometers Sketchpad and Cabri II Plus. The `Maths Gallery contains 125 digital photographs, each in small, medium and high resolution. Produce by Richard Phillips they are designed to be easily copied and pasted into dynamic geometry software such as Cabri II Plus, the Geometers Sketchpad (GSP) or Geogebra to support algebraic and/or geometric modelling activities. Free stuff from Intel and Smartboard
The winner of the BETT award for KS3/4 mathematics software is the Mathematical Toolkit and Number Line from Intel. We are currently working with Steljes, the UK distributors of SMARTBoards, on free materials to support mathematics teachers. These materials are embedded in their SMART Notebook. The first batch of these materials is scheduled for distribution to schools and LEAs in early March. A new release 9.5 of the SMART Notebook software is also scheduled for about then and this contains all the elements of the Intel Mathematical Toolkit and Number Line within the gallery of free mathematics tools provided.
Watching teachers in action: video case studies and Teachers TV
Video case studies of ICT in mathematics at KS3/4 produced by the DfES were distributed at the 2005 BETT show on a CD within the Embedding ICT @ Secondary Key Stage 3 Mathematics pack: DfES/0806/2004.

Select Secondary, Mathematics, All and find the reference to `KS3/4 Maths  New Maths Technology  In the Classroom. The program tracks the events in one school on one day as different teachers experiment with using different ICT tools in their classrooms. These include graphical calculators (and the TISmartView emulator on an IWB), dynamic geometry software (GSP) and the Intel Number Line tool. An accompanying programme discusses some of the management issues. Teachers TV also carries resource reviews, which include the SMART Notebook. More programmes on KS3/4 mathematics are scheduled soon, some of which refer to ICT use.
